 Storytelling, What it is?

Storytelling is an ancient technique of telling a story exactly as the word itself says: story and telling.

And why is it so interesting to practice speaking? Here are some of the reasons:

-Improve language skills. For instance listening or speaking.

-Practice memory.

-Lots of variety of topics.

And, How can I apply it in my classes?

One way to apply this resource is to tell a short story in the last quarter of class. Then we can propose some questions that the students will have to answer through speaking. This resource helps us to enhance both listening, when listening to the story, and speaking, when answering the questions.

Another way to apply it is for the student to be the one to prepare a short story and tell it to the other classmates.

Storytelling is a resource where we have to play with the imagination.

A real example:

Let's listen to this Youtube storytelling, pay attention and answer these questions:

-What animals appear in the story?

-Summarize the story briefly.

-Do you like the story? If not, say why.
